Welcome to our Blog
Ground Under Repair is a new feature on the True Blue Golf Plantation Web site that will offer golf thoughts and tips from Head Golf Professional Bob Seganti and his staff on a regular basis. Look for Ground Under Repair to have a more permanent home on the Web site in the future.
My name is Bob Seganti, I am the Head Golf Professional at True Blue Golf Plantation. From time to time I, and, True Blue staff members, will be sharing our thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics relating to golf and the people who play the game. To keep your interest this will NOT be a infomercial for True Blue Golf, after all you are already at our website, my job is to keep you here.
Here are some helpful hints on how to walk and talk like a tour pro.
Remember if you want to be a "player" or at least sound like one and who doesn't? You go "play", you don't go golfing. Golf is never used as a verb by the tour men or women or the coolest golfers at your club. One more phrase that pays is you go to the range to "work" on your game, you don't go to "drive golf balls"
On to fashion....
For the men, though it may be convenient and economical, it is never fashionable to "play" with a dishrag sticking out of your backpocket, the only thing that should be sticking out of your pocket at the "club" is your golf glove and your wallet which should be used to buy drinks, pay off bets, and tip the appropriate course personnel, save the tightwad routine for around the house.
For the ladies, like my man Peyton Manning says in his commercials unless you are a professional athlete or under the age of 20 please wear shirts and skirts that are appropriate for your age and more importantly your body type. Calm down ladies, this also applies for the men.
For the men and ladies, I know sometimes it is simply unavoidable, however white socks never go with black shoes, unless you are an actor or actress casting for a John Hughes movie in the 1980's. (see Pretty in Pink)
As a PGA of America member I feel obligated to give at least one tip per month.
"Hit the inside of the ball" This is one of Tiger Woods favorite tips that he dispenses. (Golf World 12/28/07) and has become one mine. I was really struggling with my ball striking and went to "work" on my game and my ball striking improved dramatically after about 5 practice balls. Try it, it will work!
More to come in the next days and months....
Always at your service,
Bob Seganti
