A belated St. Patrick's Day greeting to all our readers!
Anyway.......
Just got back from a 5-day family jaunt in Florida. And no, I didn't bring the golf clubs. We visited the west coast of Florida for the first time. The Clearwater/St. Petersburg area. just a little crowded.
We spent a day at the Philadelphia Phillies' Spring Training Complex and the family got some closeups of real big league ballplayers. The kids scored a couple of easy autographs and the wife got a closeup view of her favorite players, Cole Hammels and Chase Utley. I recall that her face was flushed ... but she hadn't been out in the sun long enough to get sunburn? Funny what young men in shape in snug uniforms do to a mom of three with a overweight, overbearing, underachieving, chronic complaining, "my way or the highway" jackass of a husband..........
I have to admit that the weather was great, sunny and mid 80's everyday. However, outside of a local muni and a private club, I didn't drive past a lot of golf courses. And trust me, I drove everywhere, in all different directions, the entire 5 days we were there. The other thing that always troubles me about me Florida is the horrendous traffic in almost any part of the state. Even my wife, who loves Florida, admits that it is much easier to navigate in Myrtle Beach even when our traffic is at its worst. And we both agree that this phrase, "we'll drive over and be there in 5 minutes," is rarely ever uttered in Florida. It takes you forever to get anywhere. Brutal!
You need to go away to appreciate what you have at home.......
That's why it is impossible to compare the Myrtle Beach area to any other destination. Where you can travel on essentially 2 highways and visit over 100 golf course in an hour's time. Nowhere!
Where can you have such quality in an hour's drive? Nowhere!
Myrtle Beach has the most decorated courses by all major golf publications every year, year after year, and is easily the most decorated golf destination in the world. Oh by the way, we have miles of beaches, great fishing, great restaurants, great bars, great nightclubs, great shopping and golf vacations for every level of consumer from budget to deluxe.
Yes, it's nice to visit other places, I do as well. But really, be honest with yourself is there really another golf destination that is better than Myrtle Beach?
