Highly-Acclaimed Course Earns Spot On Prestigious List For 10th Consecutive Year

Caledonia Golf & Fish Club was named one of the “100 Best Modern Courses” by Golfweek Magazine in its annual “America’s Best Courses” rankings. Caledonia, a Mike Strantz design, was ranked No. 100 and was the only Grand Strand layout named to the list.

Golfweek defines a modern course as being built after 1960, and rates courses based on criteria that includes the ease and intimacy of routing, integrity of design, quality of feature shaping, natural setting and overall land planning among other categories. Caledonia was first named to Golfweek’s list of “100 Best Modern Courses” in 1998 and is the only Myrtle Beach area course to be named among the top 100 each year since 1998.

“We work hard year after year to provide the best in quality and service to our customers,” said Todd Welden, Caledonia’s director of golf. “This recognition is not just a reflection of our commitment to excellence, but a statement of our willingness to create the best experience for our golfers.”

Caledonia was joined on Golfweek’s list of the “100 Best Modern Courses” by seven other Palmetto state layouts, including the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island (No. 20), Harbour Town Golf Links (No. 33), Long Cove Golf Club (No. 46), Kiawah Island Club (No. 75), Old Tabby Links (No. 86), Secession Golf Club (No. 91) and Musgrove Mill Golf Club (No. 95). Caledonia, the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Harbour Town were the only public access courses in South Carolina named to the list.

About Caledonia Golf and Fish Club
Caledonia Golf and Fish Club has been named one of the “Top 100 You Can Play” by Golf Magazine, “Top 25 Courses in South Carolina” and “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” by Golf Digest, “Top 100 Modern Courses” by Golfweek, South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel’s list of “50 Best Courses” and “Top 100 Best Courses for Women” by Golf for Women. The course is built upon the site of a historic 18th century rice plantation in Pawleys Island, S.C. The 6,526-yard, par-70 course has been described as having 18 signature holes routed around majestic oaks and meandering streams. The picturesque 18th hole borders the Plantation’s old rice field, and requires a precise tee shot that sets up a difficult second shot: a forced carry onto a green that is watched closely by the beautiful antebellum style clubhouse.
